Toxicology and Health Information
for Graduate Students

There are a number of sources available on the Library Web page which can be searched for Toxicology topics.

All University databases are accessible from home for current students but you must Login remotely to access them. Your login is your UML email address and password. For sites marked Free on this page, no remote login is necessary.

The University has a site-wide subscription to RefWorks, a web-based bibliographic management tool.  Sign up for your own account at Refworks  This service is available both on and off campus.  If off-campus, use the code RWUMASSL, and you will be able to log in to your account.  Refworks stores all your citations and can create a bibliography for you in just a few minutes.  This essential tool will save you a tremendous amount of time and effort.

Your most important resources will be:

Biological Sciences  from Cambridge Scientific.  Search the entire database or select any subfile.  All areas covered, including environmental information and toxicology. This database offers citations and abstracts only. Use the LinkSource link to connect to a journal article.

Toxnet: Free and comprehensive site from the federal government, offering many citations.

Knovel   Provides access and searching for over 800 handbooks in all engineering and science fields.  Has great section on toxicology.

You may link right to important titles:

Sax's Dangerous Properties of Industrial Materials,

Patty's Toxicology

Basic Science of Poisons. (Casarett and Doull)

For recent dissertations, you may access the first 24 pages of any dissertation.  Copies of all UML theses 1998- are free on ProQuest's site.
