UML E-Journals Alphabetical list of all electronic journals available at UMASS Lowell. Provides links to database or directly to journal. About 41,000 journals included.
Knovel Electronic link to over 800 handbooks, encyclopedias and textbooks in engineering. Can be searched for detailed properties of compounds, and even has an interactive tool for graphing.
EngNetBase: New source for online books in Engineering. Many handbooks available. Search for materials, equipment, processes.
Compendex WEB, offering indexing of 7000 journal titles and conference proceedings in the field of engineering, from 1970-present.
ScienceDirect: About 1200 journals from Elsevier Press. 1995- covering all science and engineering fields. Search engine on site
EbscoHost gives us access to a series of databases, including the general information database Academic Search Premier, with 3500 full text journals, as well as PsychInfo/PsychArticles, Medline(medicine), CINAHL (nursing) and ERIC (education).
InfoTrac (Expanded Academic Index ASAP): Index covers 1980- with full text available from about 1990-. Covers General Information. Has full text for about 1500 titles. InfoTrac Web also includes General Reference Index, General Business Index and Health Reference.
Proquest Direct: offers indexing from 1980- and Full Text from 1987- for 1000+ business journals plus Boston area newspapers, the Wall Street Journal and the Historical New York Times. Good for searching for company information, tracking new products, etc.
Lexis-Nexis: indexing to a large amount of industry information, as well as other subjects. Can search the literature for the Chemical Industry only, if desired. Also has directory and company background information.
First Search: This service offers WorldCat, a database of 45 million items available in libraries all over the world.
WorldWide WEB sites: These connections will work from any computer anywhere.
Patents US Patent Office: Offers searching of the Patent Database from 1790- You may search by word, author, date, etc. Supplies information for each patent, including the References and the abstract. Full content of all patents available in TIFF format (click on Image button) or full-text in HTML format. If you have problems printing your US Patent, write the number down and try Asitri which provides easier and faster patent printing, in PDF format.
World Patents World Patent Organization site offers searching of all World and European Patent front page information since March, 1997. Patent material may be in original language.
Ingenta A
table of contents searchable database for nearly 29,000 journals. You may browse by
journal title, and examine the table of contents of any issue, or you may do
a word search, or name search to get a list of all articles with those words
or names.
Thomas Register:
Site for list of all manufacturers in the United States. Searchable by product
name or place. Gives basic information only. Username: UMASS p/w:
lowell (may not be necessary)
MSDS sheets. A guide to many sites for locating MSDS sheets. You may have to use several sites to find your chemical. The Cornell site is the largest and most comprehensive. May be searched by manufacturer or product name.
Chemcyclopedia. Source of suppliers for chemicals. Latest edition is online.
Chemical Catalogs. You can search catalogs of many companies at this site.
TOXNET: Toxicology Database Network. A government gateway to multiple databases with detailed toxicity information of all kinds.
Chemfinder.
Good place to find information on a chemical with lots of related links.
EPA Sector Notebook Reports: Government reports on specific industries,
giving great detail on EPA information and all kinds of pollution.
