All assignments should be word-processed. Label all printouts and photocopies of material with your name.  Fasten all parts of an assignment together. All preparations must be JOURNAL articles. Patents are not acceptable.

Assignment 7


    1.Locate a recent (last 10 years) preparation for your compound in SciFinder Scholar that is available from UML resources (either hard copy or electronic).

        a. Print out the full SFS record. 

        b. Highlight all parts of the record which prove that the item you selected is a preparation of your compound.

        c. Obtain a copy of  the article and highlight the preparation located there.

        e. Properly cite the article.

        f. Using structural formulas, write the equation for the synthesis.

2. Find a preparation of your compound in SciFinder Scholar which is dated previous to 1970 and is available from UML resources.

          a.  Print off the full record, and highlight all parts of the abstract and indexing which prove that it is a preparation of your compound.  

          b.  Properly cite the article.

          c. Obtain the paper, locate and highlight the section of the paper that gives the preparation of your compound.

3. Locate the oldest preparation for your compound found in SFS which is available from UML resources. Do not use the paper chosen for Question 2.

a. Print off the full record, and highlight all parts of the abstract and indexing which prove that it is a preparation of your compound.

b. Properly cite the article.

c. Obtain the paper, locate and highlight the section of the paper that gives the preparation of your compound.
