Trial access to Blackwell Reference Online through October 20

Wiley-Blackwell publishing is providing trial access to the entire Blackwell Reference Online collection of 470 works covering the Social Sciences and Humanities. Access to these resources are available both on and off campus through October 20, 2012.

Blackwell Reference Online is a vast online library giving instant access to the authoritative and up-to-date scholarship across the social sciences. With  dozens of works added each year, it is the largest social science and humanities reference collection available online.

ProQuest Social Sciences Database subscriptions added

UMass Lowell Libraries has added six new ProQuest Social Sciences Databases to its collection of online database subscriptions.

New Database Titles

Applied Social Sciences Index and Abstracts (ASSIA)  is an indexing and abstracting tool covering health, social services, psychology, sociology, economics, politics, race relations and education. It contains records from over 500 journals published in 16 different countries, including the UK and US.

Criminal Justice Periodicals  includes correctional and law enforcement trade publications, crime reports, crime blogs and other material relevant. The database includes abstract and indexing for 250 titles, with more than 100 available in full-text.

International Bibliography of the Social Sciences (IBSS) includes over two million bibliographic references to journal articles and to books, reviews and selected chapters dating back to 1951.  Abstracts are provided for half of all current journal articles and full text availability is continually increasing.

PAIS International contains continually updated records for over half a million journal articles, books, government documents, statistical directories, grey literature, research reports, conference papers, web content, and more from over 120 countries throughout the world.

PAIS Archive is a retrospective conversion of the PAIS Annual Cumulated Bulletin, volumes 1-62, published 1915-1976. PAIS Archive contains over 1.23 million records and covers monographs, periodical articles, notes and announcements, and analytics. PAIS Archive provides a unique perspective on the 20th century’s most important public and social policies, such as Prohibition, suffrage, pacifism, civil rights, McCarthyism, Vietnam War, and Watergate.

Social Sciences Journals includes over 570 titles, with more than 340 available in full text. Subject coverage includes Anthropology, Communication science, Demography, Economics, Education, Political science, Policy studies, Psychology, Social work, and Sociology.

Emerald eBook Series Trial for Management and Social Sciences

Emerald Insight Publishing is proving UMass Lowell with trial access to two of their new eBook Series Collections:  Business, Management, and Economics and Social Sciences.

Access to these two collections is available until the end of December, 2011.

Emerald Business, Management, and Economics is a growing collection of more than 650 volumes from over 80 eBook Series titles in 15 subject areas. Featuring relevant, international and quality content, in many fields including strategy, economics, accounting and finance and human resource management.

Emerald Social Sciences provides online access to more than 300 volumes from over 40 book series titles. The collection features high profile, international authors delivering cutting-edge, cross-disciplinary research in the fields of education, environment, health care, language and linguistics, politics and policy and sociology and anthropology.
