Naxos Music Library has provided UMass Lowell with trial access to its new Spoken Word Library now through May 31, 2011.
The Spoken Word Library brings online accessibility to the Naxos AudioBooks catalog, which is a leading spoken word label, producing around 30 new titles a year and concentrating largely on literary classics and educational themes. The Spoken Word Library offers Naxos AudioBooks’ full range of recordings through online streaming using Adobe Flash. Many of the titles are also in text that can be followed on screen as the audio plays.
The library contains more than 410 titles – over 1,170 works and stories — consisting mostly of classic novels, plays and poetry, from medieval times to the twentieth century, with unabridged titles from Shakespeare to James Joyce. In all, close to 340 authors, playwrights and poets are represented. Readers of the works include some of today’s biggest names, such as Kenneth Branagh, Paul Scofield, Juliet Stevenson and many others.
Access to this trial is available through the library’s New Database Trials and Subscriptions webpage.
