Full access to Primal Pictures: 3D Human Anatomy Software along with Anatomy and Physiology Online are available now on an extended trial basis through February 24, 2012. This trial is provided to UMass Lowell by Ovid Technologies.

Primal Interactive Human: The 3D Real-time Body: Derived from real human data, this range of software provides over 5,000 3D anatomical structures, clinical slides, dissections, animations and much more. Explore the human body region by region through these 11 models:

  • Head & Neck
  • Spine
  • Shoulder
  • Knee
  • Hand
  • Thorax
  • Abdomen
  • Foot & Ankle
  • Female Pelvis
  • Male Pelvis
  • Hip

Rotate the 3D models in any direction using your mouse and control which structures are visible, added, removed, made x-ray or opaque either in groups – muscles, vessel systems and organ systems – or individually, structure by structure.

Anatomy and Physiology Online is a fully integrated online learning approach for students studying anatomy and physiology. Published as 19 comprehensive modules, it guides a student through the content from clear learning objectives to self testing. Combining Primal Pictures’ award wining 3D anatomy with engaging new physiology content using clear visuals with succint text, narrated animations that cover complex concepts and processes, clinical case studies and fun interactive quizzes that engage all the senses.

Anatomy and Physiology Online won first prize in the ‘Digital and online resources‘ category at the 2011 BMA (British Medical Association) Medical Book and Patient Information Awards.

Access to these trials is available through the Library’s Trials and New Resources web page.
